Lighting Bars & Truss Systems

Gloucestershire’s Leading installer of Stage Lighting Bars & Truss Systems.

Lighting bars and truss systems are an essential part of the infrastructure for any theatre, drama studio or live performance venue. Most venues looking to stage theatre or live music events will want to have lighting bars or trussing installed over the stage and also in the main auditorium to enable flexible and creative lighting fixtures to be installed to achieve the desired looks for the show. Lighting Bars can also be used to fix speakers to  optimise sound coverage and also provide delayed audio for large spaces and under and above balconies etc.

Lighting Bars are normally pre-wired with sockets either 16A or power con sockets for directly connecting the lights to and these are then terminated back to the fuse board where correct RCBO’s are installed for safety. Existing lighting bars with 15A sockets can still be re-used for new LED lighting so as the dimmers are removed and replaced with suitable switching fused power.

Lighting Bars can be mounted both from the ceiling but also the side walls but in some cases if the building has restrictions on fixings being made to the ceiling or walls a ground support structure can be installed.

In high ceilings where access may be difficult we can install motorised Lighting Bars or install manual pulley systems so they can be lowered via a hand winch.

Correct design and installation of the lighting grid is essential to allow for a broad range of theatre show and live performances to be successfully staged and so lighting designers and programmers can position the specified lights in the optimum positions.

When designing a lighting grid it is important to design the correct DMX infrastructure to enable future additional lighting to be easily integrated into the system. When installing multiple lighting bars it is advisable to incorporate DDMX splitters and boosters so that there is no lag in the control network and this can be done using traditional DMX cable or network cabling and ArtNET conversion which can also transmit DMX over WIFI.
